                   TABA AIRPORT

AIRPORT   INFO   Since Taba only ever existed as a small Bedouin village, there was never any real transportation infrastructure. More recently, Al Nakb Airport, located on the Sinai plateau some 35 km from Taba, was upgraded and renamed Taba International Airport , and now handles half a dozen charter flights a week from the UK as well as weekly charter flights from Germany, Belgium, France, Holland, the Czech Republic & Ukraine. Many tourists enter via the Taba Border Crossing from Eilat, Israel.
Taba  airport is  small and a bit basic compared to modern U.K. airports it has only space to unload one plane at a time, so it can feel crowded.

When the porter loads your cases onto the coach for the journey to your hotel you may be asked for a tip, if you want to tip have some small change handy.

The coach journey time from the airport to Taba is about 45 minutes.

When you return to the airport for your flight home from your holidays in Taba , the porters in and around the airport will approach you  to change english money, this is not a scam they just want to change all the english pound coins they have been tipped into english 5 or 10 pound notes, as the Bureau de change in Egypt will not change coins for Egyptian pounds.

The departure lounge is  very small, with only plastic seats to sit on, while you await your flight, and just a small shop that sells snacks.

I would also recommend that you carry some tissue or toilet paper in your bag or hand luggage. Because you will probably find there is no toilet paper in the airport toilet`s. But there will be  a man hovering around outside the entrance to the loo`s selling toilet paper at a few egyptian pounds  a sheet. This is standard practise throughout Egypt in my experience. However  it doesn`t make it any less annoying. If you believe, that they are just trying to make a living in a poor country, then pay, if you are departing, you will probably have no need  for those last few egyptian pounds.  So it could be a  good way to get rid of your unwanted egyptian currency .
